Introducing CAN DO!
CAN DO is a series of instructional videos made in partnership with local organisations, using materials that are frequently available for free on CAN.
We will also be showcasing the amazing projects our users have been delivering with resources they sourced on CAN. See link in bio for our community page where you can share your projects.
Our first CAN DO is with…
Kerry Cleland; an early years theatre specialist based in Wester Hailes, Edinburgh: “We built the space to allow us to explore our studio with UV/black light (blackout zone). Photos are from stage 1 development for a show I am making for babies and their adults. The structure was made by myself and my husband (fellow performer and theatre maker) Ben Winger.”
The wooden structures were donated by the National Museum of Scotland, while the fabric was from COP26. All of these were placed inside our new mini depot in Edinburgh – allowing users to have somewhere to drop off materials and collect claimed items.
We hope this encourages more people to think about what materials are available, designing from what is available for reuse locally in the early planning stages of creating an exhibition or artwork – rather than using virgin materials.
CAN users are helping the Cultural Sector with its journey to net zero.♻️
