We’re collaborating with Fife Contemporary to make it easier for artists, makers and arts organisations in Fife to share and exchange unwanted but reusable equipment, resources, and materials.
CAN run exchange hubs in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee, and are now inviting artists in Fife to connect to this network by exchanging goods through the CAN Van.
The CAN Van will be making its way around Fife for the first time on Friday 26th May. Starting at 10:30am from Forgan Arts Centre in North Fife, the van will be stopping at locations across the Kingdom to deliver and collect resources throughout the day. So, there should be a location near you, just check the destination list and times below.
- 10:00 – 10:45am Forgan Arts Centre (Newport On Tay)
- 11:30 – 12:15pm Off the Rails Arthouse (Ladybank)
- 3:00 – 3:45pm Artspace 48 (Glenrothes)
- 4:15 – 5:15pm Fire Station Creative (Dunfermline)

You can join the CAN network anytime to list resources you no longer have a use for on the CAN website. Items you might donate could include furniture and packing material, old display props and plinths or specialist arts equipment and materials.
If you list resources before the 19th May we may be able to arrange for the CAN Van to collect them right from your door! Alternatively, you can bring anything along you want to swap to the CAN Van on the day. You can drop off your donations to share at the partner venues up until the CAN Van is scheduled to leave. You can also take any donated item you want off the van to use yourself. Once the CAN Van has departed each venue then the venue cannot accept any more donations. But remember you can bring items to any of the CAN Depots any time they are open.
A Note on Sales
If you list items on the CAN website, they can be made available for sale. However, we don’t have facilities to administer and check for payments on the CAN Van, so any items shared through the CAN Van on the 26th May must be as donations only and not for sale.
Please note: This pilot scheme will allow us to connect artists and spaces across Fife to pool resources. We are inviting you to share your thoughts and ideas about the project, and how we might improve and enable more artists to share their resources with each other. A feedback form will be added here shortly and the comments collected will be shared with CAN.
